Ex-journalist jailed for 7 years for ‘abusive’ anti-Suu Kyi Facebook posts: official

A former columnist for state media was jailed for seven years for writing “abusive” posts about Myanmar leader Aung San Suu Kyi on Facebook, a court official said Wednesday.

Ngar Min Swe was convicted “for writing abusive posts on Facebook against State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi, making people get the wrong impression of her”, Yangon’s Western District Court spokesman Htay Aung said.
